11/15/08 – Demo Day Instructor: Mike Toland Location: Orbic Air Hangar Van Nuys Airport
This is Mike Toland a CFI here at Orbic conducting the Ground Instruction portion of Demo Day. Following the ground presentation, we flew several introductory flights in the R22. Everyone really enjoyed their first flight in a helicopter. Thank you to all who attended. The event was a great success and we plan on having another Demo Day in the near future.
10/31/08 – Halloween Skydivers
Pilot: Alex Keller Jumpers: Do Stunts Skydiving
Over Granada Hills High School Alex Keller piloted the Jet Ranger with 3 skydivers on board. At about 6,000 feet, just after sunset, the 3 skydivers made their departure for Granada Hills High School. What a great way to kick of Halloween. It’s definitely a different feeling having people jump out of the helicopter, but one of the most exciting times as a pilot.
10/24/08 – HBO Sports (De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao)
Pilot: David Child Aerial DP: John Trapman, Filmworks Camera: Cineflex HD, Pictorvision
Here’s Dave taking flight for the early morning shot of Oscar De La Hoya doing his high altitude training in Big Bear, CA. It was a cold one (about 20 degrees) when we got started. Later that day, we made our way back to LA to shoot Manny Pacquiao at his training grounds. Keep a look out on HBO for the fight scheduled on December 6, 2008.
Here’s a shot of Aaron’s parking spot at the Laguna Seca Raceway. Once the race gets underway, Aaron takes to the sky to provide the aerial microwave relay system that receives and transmits the on-board camera images from the race cars. The microwave services and remote camera systems are provided through the folks at Broadcast Sports Technology, who are the North American leader in this type of service.
